Automation in Manufacturing

What fosters effective teamwork? It’s not just about grouping individuals together and hoping for the best. It’s about cultivating an environment where trust, open communication, mutual respect, and a shared vision converge.

With the cost of equipment coming down, manufacturers are using automation to cope with labor shortages. Even before the pandemic, there was a shortage of manufacturing workers, particularly those with automation skills, and the shortage has grown during the pandemic. Manufacturers have turned to advanced automation, such as robots and IoT systems, to mitigate labor shortages and improve efficiency. The cost of automation equipment is now more affordable, thanks to 3D printing and off-the-shelf components. Additionally, advanced automation has become user-friendly, eliminating the need for original programming. To learn more, I recommend attending the free webinar, “Advanced Manufacturing Is Getting Smarter,” presented by Design News on Thursday, October 19 at 2:00 pm Eastern, featuring insights from Aaron Donlon, product manager for robotics at Epson Robots, and Brian Coyne, VP of engineering for Harmonic Drive.
